Frohe Weihnachten! (Download)

Again something which grounds on the pertinacity of Dale Sidebottom and Bruce Thomas: ldr.GeoPaint v1.00 presented!

It took a long time until these two Commodore friends of mine got me to work. But now it's accomplished, everybody is now capable of loading directly and without detour GEOS images to GoDot and then edit  them. The loader "understands" GEOS filenames and retrieves clips of 320x200 from images up to 640x800 pixels.

This is my 2003 Christmas gift to the Commodore Community. Happy Christmas! (Download)

Attention all you GEOS/Wheels users!
This is ldr.GeoPaint for you to download.

By suggestion of Dale Sidebottom I changed both the savers for PostScript and GIF. The "Pepto" palette isn't included in svr.PostScript anymore because it didn't make sense for printing purposes. Instead of that I inserted the VICE emulator palette. This palette was also added to the GIF saver. Both additionally have the Wheels palette available now (used in PostPrint). Moreover, there's a new module which transfers the hires bitmap of GoDot's graphics display into the 4Bit memory. Thus you are now able to work on masks directly in GoDot. (Download)

Am 5. Dezember 2003

(Download)

The new PixelEdit v1.25

This text was written using PixelEdit.

Am 24. Oktober 2003

(Download)

On October 24, 2003

We have four enhancements to PixelEdit at once:
- The vanishing of the pointer at startup is cured.
- The crosshairs get inked instantly after Startup, they aren't just white anymore.
- Two of the known key commands were taken over to the command and navigation window: "K" to toggle the crosshairs on and off, "Q" to change their colors progressively (black again after 16 clicks).
- A function was added: "Wipe" (CTRL-w from keyboard), it clears the currently visible part of the image to the chosen color. This function too is part of the command window.
Thus working with PixelEdit is even more comfortable. (Download)

One of the most important loaders of GoDot is ldr.4Bit&Mask. It enables you to mask portions of the current image and overlay another one (see batlogo example at the bottom of this page). Unfortunately, you couldn't ignore the mask up to now to load a new base image. This drawback ist remedied by now. (Download)

Am 9. Oktober 2003

(Download)

Sorry, folks.  Bugfixes tend to produce each other... The start-up file "godot" now has version #1.32 (incidentally the Temp buffer could have vanished). Download: see below the screenshot on the right.

Am 6. Oktober 2003

'tschuldigung, Leute.

On September 27, 2003

Update of system file "godot"! It contained a bug which could prevent GoDot from installing files  to the REU. Additionally, I remedied dev.REU to get rid of the bug which sometimes let a file appear double in the directory.

Updated System Files!

Am 8. August 2003

Alles wegen Dales UCUGA... (Download).

On August 8, 2003

Impossible but true! There still was a bug in GoDot that caused it crashing! Who started mod.Scroll from his REU, entered anything by Input, executed the module, and then  performed a preview in GoDot's main screen, gained a bluescreen. But I was up to GoDot's tricks, hehe. All because of Dale's UCUGA... (Download).

August 2003:

Ich habe meinen ersten "How to GoDot"- Artikel an Dale Sidebottom in die USA geschickt.

August 2003:

I have sent my first "How To GoDot" article to Dale Sidebottom from the USA. It will be published in UCUGA digest, the successor of the famous Lucky Report newsletter. If everything goes well, I will continue the former GO64 series there - as usual, providing many tips and tricks and serving with updates. You can always download images used in the workshops here. I'm looking forward to this new task!

A little, but messy  bug is finally fixed! Module StretchClip couldn't be executed directly from a RAM extender. You were always forced to re-input values (e.g. in ClipWorks) after calling StretchClip. The reason for this long period of updating the software: the original source code was buried at Wolfgang Kling's who gave away his whole equipment years ago. I couldn't get hold of it! Well, I now recompiled the Code and it is available again. (Download).

Am 30. Juli 2003

(Download).

Lighthouse.4bt, the original, the building is the clip

Saved to Temp it gets located to the upper left corner in an empty Temp buffer

From there you can insert it anywhere on screen.

Am 6. Juli 2003

On July 6, 2003

I have always frowned upon the fact that I could only move parts of an image within the image by using a diskette as a storage device. So, now I enhanced svr.4BitClip in a way that it is able to save clips to an REU, in a way that they get laid down in its upper left corner. From there you can use ldr.4BitGoDot and mod.ClipWorks to maneuvre the clip anywhere on screen you need to.

Because you can't find directives for that in the manuals, a brief how-to: 1. Determine the clip you want to copy (the lighthouse in my example) using mod.ClipWorks. 2. Save the clip to the Temp buffer with svr.4BitClip. You need of course an REU. In the saver you select unit "RAM" and enter "temp00" as its filename (otherwise nothing would happen!) 3. Select "Save". 4. To get the clip back, start mod.ClipWorks again and determine the target clip area (while keeping width and height if applicable). 5. You refetch the clip with ldr.4BitGoDot. As the "Source" you set "Temp", and behind "Load" you click to "into Clip". After that you either select "Replace" or "Compose". The latter uses color black as a transparency color with which you can merge clip and original at places of black. Now a little handwork with mod.PixelEdit and you're done.

Am 11. Juni 2003

On June 11, 2003

A long time there was no news around GoDot. The reason was, I changed my system and my utility software (with the result that nothing worked anymore). This stage is past.

As a first activity I overhauled GoDot's most important loader (ldr.4BitGoDot). It was buggy, which you could run into if you created  oversized 4Bit images with ConGo, and would load them on your C64. GoDot would simply crash. Fixed.

(Download)

On July 7, 2002

You can nicely turn smaller parts of an image with mod.TurnClip, but if you were to turn an entire screen (which is a clip of size 25x25) you had very much to do. You needed three passes and additional intermediate steps to generate the image on the right from the image on the left. There's an easier way now: we have mod.TurnScreen, a one-click matter. Standard formats still missing in GoDot? How's that? Unbearable! So here are even FIVE loaders at once! Now the multicolor formats of Artist64, CDU Paint, Image System, Saracen Paint, and Vidcom are not "unknown" anymore... (download).

Am 24. Mai 2002

Nein, Leute! GoDot macht's möglich, es geht! (Natürlich geht's! Auf dem C64 sollte was *nicht* gehen?) ;-) Versucht das neue mod.BalancingCol (Download). Im Zusammenwirken mit z.B. mod.DrawMask (s.u.) kann man geradezu unglaubliche Effekte erzeugen.

On April 6, 2002

To brighten the colors of a picture, or to darken them? With only 16 colors available on a C64? This will lead to nonsense... No, people! We have GoDot, it works! (Of course it works! Why should anything on a C64 *not* work?) ;-) Try the new mod.BalancingCol (download). Together with eg. mod.DrawMask (s.below) you can create almost unbelievable effects.

An Easter gift! ;-) Greg Nacu had a wish, and his wish was command to me. He considered the editing of masks to overlay two images too intricate, with only mod.QuickMask and mod.MaskEd available. He looked for something more intuitive, one to generate a mask without much considering. This is the result of his wish: mod.DrawMask! Just paint masks onto an image!

The images on top grow via the one on the left finally to the result on the right. Time of work: about 5 minutes... ;-) Isn't that a fast way?
